AR-15 rifle

Summary: A doctor from Pennsylvania was arrested after guns and ammo were found in his car at the Trump hotel in Washington D.C.

A Pennsylvania doctor brought a collection of guns and ammunition to a Trump hotel. Emergency room doctor Bryan Moles was arrested at the Trump International Hotel in Washington D.C. with an AR-15 assault rifle, a .40-caliber handgun, and 90 rounds of ammunition. The reason for having the guns and ammo in his car are unclear.

Just a week ago, Moles had posted on his Facebook page a rather odd question, “If you had to choose between a Hilton Hotel and a Trump hotel, which would you choose and why?” Apparently, Moles thought a Trump hotel was the winning choice.

Metropolitan Police Department Chief of Police Peter Newsham gave a news conference where he explained that authorities “averted a potential disaster here in our nation’s capital.” However, when the Secret Service questioned Moles, they found that he “posed no immediate threat” to anyone.

During his interview with officials, Moles did provide conflicting information about his reason for traveling to Washington so heavily armed. Even with the conflicting information, there was no indication that he was planning to harm anyone and was simply staying at the Trump hotel to show his support of the president.

His employer, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center did state that Moles had recently been placed on administrative leave but declined to provide more details. His friends and family claim that “he is mentally stable in every way, shape or form.” They believe the incident was just a misunderstanding and that Moles, a Navy veteran, is a married father of two young boys that supports Trump and happens to own guns to be used for protection. Longtime friend Lisa Dellaratta explained, “There is nothing in Bryan’s history or pattern of behavior that would make me think he was a threat at all.”

Apparently, not all of Moles friends felt the same way. Pennsylvania State Police received a tip from one of his friends that was concerned about his state of mind. She alerted the police that he had just checked into a Washington Trump hotel.

Moles did check into the hotel, informing staff that he had guns in his car, which is a violation of district law. His car was checked by police and the Secret Service, resulting in his arrest for possession. He will be officially charged on Thursday in court. It is not yet known if he has an attorney.

Family members were shocked when they learned of his arrest. One cousin stated, “Everyone around here goes shooting. I know he had a permit for Pennsylvania. He probably didn’t realize it wasn’t reciprocated in Washington.” Dellaratta added, “I think this is so blown out of proportion. It’s insane.”

Moles is a hard-core Republican that delivers home-cooked meals to veterans. He recently started a program so that veterans with post-traumatic stress can receive a K-9.
