Summary: An exciting underwater photo shoot with sharks, a porn star hired to promote the shoot got a little too friendly with a shark.
Porn star Molly Cavalli got more than she bargained for in an underwater photo shoot. Cavalli was supposed to swim with the sharks for a promotional video for adult entertainment company Camsoda. However, the shark cage Cavalli was placed in may not have been constructed with the best design.
In a skimpy white swimsuit with CamSoda sprawled across her chest, Cavalli put on her mask and snorkel and jumped into a one person shark cage where she should have been able to view the sharks safely.
The cage had lemon sharks swimming around, curiously approaching the cage. Lemon sharks are a powerful and stocky shark but not considered a large threat to humans. They have been reported to grow up to 11 feet long, living in groups in generally shallow subtropical waters. The International Shark Attack File has 10 unprovoked lemon shark bites on humans, none of which have been fatal.
They can add one more bite to the list. A ten-foot lemon shark got a little too curious and was able to get its teeth inside the cage and into Cavalli’s ankle. In the video posted on YouTube, blood can be seen filling the area around her as she struggles to climb out of the cage onto the boat. Once out of the water, Cavalli and the film crew are able to see the full extent of her injury.
The photo shoot, which was supposed to promote the custom built technology with underwater live feeds from anywhere in the world, was cut short so that Cavalli could be taken back to a hospital for treatment. She received 20 stitches to the wound.
Cavalli took to Instagram to reassure her fans that she was okay. She wrote, “Thanks for your well wishes guys. I’m totally fine. It’s not as bad as it seems. I’m healing quickly. It was still an amazing experience.”
Some of the viewers of the video questioned its authenticity, believing it to be a staged publicity stunt. This idea is not entirely hard to believe considering how minor of a shark bite, but it is also hard to believe someone that relies on their sex appeal would be willing to scar their body just for a photo shoot.
Shark attacks are not a common occurrence but are generally more vicious than what Cavalli experienced. Another recent video shows a 25-foot long shark following a father and son in their fishing boat off the Cornish coast. In that video, the beast eerily floats behind the duo’s small fishing boat. Luckily the shark was a basking shark, a gentle giant of the deep, and posed no threat to the father and son.
