Woman Uses 911 for Transport to Seven Different Hospitals in an Effort to Obtain Pain Pills

Summary: A Florida woman turned to 911 in a pain pill scheme to receive transport to seven different hospitals within 26 hours.

Sunstar Paramedics had an eventful 26 hours transporting a Florida woman to seven different hospitals in Pinellas County. Police allege that Kimberly Keener, 40, called 911 multiple times in a frenzied attempt to obtain pain pill prescriptions from multiple doctors.

Investigators claim that Keener, a Bradenton resident, used 911 to obtain transportation by ambulance to the different hospitals in the county. The ambulance service company answered her calls and brought her to the different hospitals over a period of 26 hours.

The arrest affidavit states that Keener sought to “obtain fraudulent prescription pain medication.” The reasons for calling 911 were not included in the court filings, nor how successful Keener was in obtaining any pain medication prescriptions.

Keener was arrested for misuse of the 911 system at St. Petersburg General Hospital at 4 a.m., the seventh hospital that Keener visited. She was also charged with obtaining controlled substances by fraud, which is a felony. She was jailed on $5150 bond. She is also facing a probation violation for a misdemeanor theft conviction a few weeks ago.

How do you think Keener managed to get them to take her to seven different hospitals? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below.
