Do you ever get to the end of your day or week and just feel exhausted or drained? Do you ever start your day feeling that way? Life can be tough, but if you want to live the best life possible or achieve big dreams, you need to avoid things that could hold you back. Oftentimes, we’re giving our time and energy to things without even realizing we’re doing it.

It’s important to take the time every once in a while to sit down and look at where you’re spending your time and energy and whether those things are worth it anymore. It’s easy to fall back into old habits, so check yourself regularly and keep recommitting to a list of habits you want to ditch. Here are 14 things that you are probably doing that, if stopped, could free up a considerable amount of your time and energy.

  1. Trying to change other people’s minds.
  2. Spending more time than absolutely necessary on social media or surfing the internet.
  3. Meeting up with people because you feel obligated.
  4. Refreshing your email inbox.
  5. Holding a pity party for yourself.
  6. Waiting until you’re “ready.”
  7. Keeping up with the latest beauty regimens.
  8. Falling into self-doubt and not doing what you want to do.
  9. Doing something you don’t want to do solely to please someone else.
  10. Making a list of all the things you wish you had.
  11. Spending more than an hour in the gym.
  12. Mollify a negative person.
  13. Spending time on things you think you “should” do or improve upon that you don’t really care about.
  14. Getting worked up about things you have no control over.
