Robin Thicke and Paula Patton Battle for Custody of Their Son

Summary: Robin Thicke and Paula Patton are fighting in court over their six-year-son Julian.

Accused child abuser Robin Thicke is locked in a bitter custody battle with his ex-wife, Paula Patton. That’s according to SheKnows, which reported that the Blurred Lines singer crossed his former love when he denied her entry at his father Alan Thicke’s funeral.

In 2015, Robin and Patton appeared to divorce amicably. Before that, the then married pair’s dirty laundry went public when photos of Robin reaching for the butt of a young fan appeared online. Patton separated from Robin amidst rumors of his adultery, and he unsuccessfully tried to win her back with a cheesy love album called “Paula.” Since their divorce, which was filed in 2014 and finalized in 2015, Robin has been seen with a model nearly half his age.

Robin and Patton were high school sweethearts, and they have one son, Julian, 6. According to SheKnows, the pair are engaged in an ugly fight for his custody. At the beginning of the year, Julian told school officials that Robin had spanked and punched him multiple times, which resulted in the school reporting Robin to the Los Angeles County Department of Child and Family Services. The family welfare department subsequently opened a case and are investigating Robin for abuse.

Us Weekly reported that Robin has already been interviewed by the child services department, and that he has denied any wrongdoing.

“On a very rare occasion and only as a last resort, I will use light spanking, but it is consistent with the law — open hand on the butt,” Robin Thicke said to Us Weekly. “This is the type of discipline to which Paula and I agreed during our marriage.”

Patton reacted to the alleged abuse by filing an emergency order with the court. She requested that Robin’s interaction with Julian be restricted and limited to monitored day visits. In the legal documents, she wrote to her ex, “Julian is scared of you.” According to Us Weekly, a judge denied Patton’s complaint and that child services so far have not found any evidence of wrongdoing.

SheKnows stated that Robin does not feel as if he is in the wrong and that Patton is seeking revenge after not being allowed to attend Alan Thicke’s funeral last month.

“It is my belief that Paula holds residual anger towards me because I and my family would not permit her or her family to attend the funeral of my father on December 20, 2016,” Thicke said.

Robin added in his legal documents that Patton was denied entry to the funeral because she wasn’t close to Alan and that she wanted to use Alan’s death to gain “additional public exposure.”
