Summary: Have a busy week coming up? Here are 5 tips to prepare and help lower your stress.

Sunday evenings can be rough when the last thing you want to think about is going to work the next day, but they can be even worse when you know the week ahead is fraught with too many obligations. To help you get ahead of the game and handle your upcoming week like a superstar, here are five tips that will lower your stress and change your attitude.

  1. Meal prep. By planning out your meals and snacks for the week, going to the grocery store over the weekend, and then preparing anything and everything you can ahead of time, you will save yourself a considerable amount of time during the week. Plus, you’ll have healthy, less expensive food to grab when normally you’d end up getting take out.
  2. Schedule your week. By putting all of your events and “to do’s” on one calendar and in one place, you can get a clear look at what you have going on that week. This allows you to not only see the pockets of free time, but it also keeps you from the overwhelming feeling you get when you realized you completely forgot about something you needed to do that day.
  3. Pack the night before. Mornings are rough, especially if you have to be into work early, you’re dog sitting for a friend, or you have an early workout class. Prepare your bags and lay out your clothes the night before, and your morning will go much more smoothly.
  4. Get up early. Most of us wake up with just enough time to do our morning routine and sprint out the door. If you know your week is already going to be stressful, get up a little earlier than usual to make your mornings more relaxing and keep you from being late.
  5. Say no where you can. If you have a busy week at work or due to family obligations, look at your schedule and try to figure out where you can say “no” or “maybe later” to lessen your stress during the week. Sometimes you just have to choose sanity over making everyone happy.
