Dr. Luke Files Second Lawsuit Against Kesha’s Mother

Summary: Last week, Dr. Luke filed a second defamation lawsuit against Kesha’s mother.

Music producer Dr. Luke has slammed Kesha’s mother, Pebe Sebert, with a second defamation lawsuit. The suit was filed in Tennessee last Wednesday; and Dr. Luke, real name Lukasz Gottwald, said it was because Sebert continues to “publicly defame” him, according to The Huffington Post.

Dr. Luke first filed a defamation suit against Sebert in 2014. Her daughter, singer Kesha, filed a lawsuit against him, wanting to break her contract; and in her explosive lawsuit, she claimed he had drugged and sexually abused her for almost a decade. Recently, Kesha dropped the lawsuit in California and is back to work.

However, Dr. Luke’s battle with Kesha’s mother is still pending. His lawyer, Christine Lepera told The Huffington Post that Sebert was making “outrageous, false and defamatory statements against Dr. Luke in her widespread media campaign to damage him and smear his name. Pebe Sebert’s lawyers flat out refused to allow us to add those statements to the existing case or to toll the statute of limitations on them ―- so we’ve been compelled to file an additional action.”

Dr. Luke claims Kesha and her mom have publicly tarnished his reputation in order to be released from her contract. He has repeatedly denied Kesha’s abuse allegations.

Sebert is represented by attorney Alex Little, who said that after all the evidence has been presented, Sebert’s claims will be “justified.”

Dr. Luke’s latest lawsuit lists new offenses, including a scathing tweet Sebert published in 2015 that said, “Kesha can’t legally put out music unless she makes it under complete control of a man who raped her at 18.”

According to The Wrap, Dr. Luke is seeking an unspecified amount of damages, but it is reported that the damages could be greater than $75,000.
