NFL Star Johnny Manziel Indicted for Assault

Summary: NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel is facing serious charges of assault regarding an incident with his ex-girlfriend.

Free agent and 2012 Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel has been indicted by a Texas grand jury for assault. His former girlfriend Colleen Crowley has accused the NFL quarterback of assaulting her in January by hitting, restraining, and threatening her.

In the affidavit, Crowley explains how he grabbed her hair, hitting her and causing her to lose hearing in one ear. He denies hitting her. The indictment states that Manziel “intentionally and knowingly and recklessly (causing) bodily injury to” her.

The details of the event state that the two were staying in an upscale hotel in Dallas. She claims he threw her on the bed and restrained her so she could not leave. She was still restrained when he led her to the valet at the hotel where she cried out, “Please don’t let him take me. I’m scared for my life.” The valet did not know what to do and let them leave.

Crowley claims they got to her car where she jumped out and hid behind bushes but he found her and threw her back into the car. They drove to her apartment in Fort Worth where she was able to pull a knife from her kitchen as defense, causing him to leave.

The NFL is investigating the allegations and if they find he has violated the personal conduct policy then he could face a suspension.

His football career has been experiencing troubles since his stardom began in 2012. He entered an alcohol and drug treatment facility last February. Since his release from the treatment facility, he has not exhibited behavior that is in-line with his public apology. Two agents have fired him as a client in under two months and he lost his endorsement with Nike.
