The Tallahassee Democrat reports that a lawyer working for the Florida Attorney General was arrested on Sunday morning on charges of possession of cocaine and DUI. At two in the morning, a Florida State University police officer noticed Christopher Patrick Arnold, 32, driving erratically in his pick up truck. Arnold just couldn’t seem to stay in one lane, so the police pulled him over. That’s when they noticed a strong odor of alcohol as well as Arnold’s bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. The officer then asked Arnold to step out of the vehicle, and once outside, the lawyer had a hard time maintaining his balance.
The police took Arnold into custody for suspicion of DUI, and when they searched him, they found a small plastic bag holding white powder attached to his credit card. The powder tested out to be cocaine.
Arnold refused to take a breath test or any field sobriety tests, but he was taken to jail anyway. He was later released on $2,500 bond.
Arnold joined the Attorney General’s Office on June 18, 2015. The Tallahassee Democrat also shared that he earns $51,627 annual salary, which didn’t seem relevant but was interesting nonetheless.
According to The Florida Bar, Arnold graduated from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2011, and he has not had any prior disciplinary issues in the last ten years.
Arnold’s employer released a statement that they are investigating the matter.
