Summary: Donald Trump and Spanish-language channel Univision have settled their $500 million legal battle.

On Thursday, Donald Trump and Univision settled their $500 million legal battle like winners.

Variety reports that Trump sued Univision after it dropped his organizations, Miss USA and Miss Universe, after he said Mexicans coming over the border were “rapists.” The loud-mouthed Republican presidential candidate fired back with a $500 million lawsuit, claiming political interference from one of Univision’s owner, Haim Saban, who is a prominent Democrat.

Trump’s remarks brought him some conservative fans, but also a ton of backlash. His anti-Latino remarks drew comical reactions like memes and late-night jokes, but they also seemed to fan the flames of hatred towards people of color. One writer for The Guardian, Tina Vasquez, described how his remarks have increased racism towards Latinos.

When the Trump and Univision feud first began, the Miss Universe franchise was owned by Trump Organization and NBC Universal. In June of 2015, Trump announced his presidential bid, and during his speech, he made the aforementioned derogatory comments against Mexican immigrants. Univision, an American Spanish television station, dropped the July 12 Miss USA telecast in protest.

Afterwards, Trump bought out NBC Universal from the pageant and sold it to WME/IMG.

Even with their business relationship seemingly severed, Trump and Univision continued to war with each other. Last summer, Univision banned all employees from doing business at Trump-owned property, according to Variety; and five months ago, Trump kicked out famed Univision reporter Jorge Ramos from a press conference.

In a statement published in Variety, Trump let the world know Univision and its CEO are no longer losers to him.

“I have known Univision’s president and CEO, Randy Falco, for more than 20 years, and I’m glad we are able to put these differences behind us,” Trump said.

Falco echoed that things are now okay with The Donald.

“I have known Donald Trump for many years in both a personal and professional capacity, and we are pleased to settle this matter and move forward,” Falco said.

The terms of the settlement were not released.
