Hilary Duff Divorce Finalized, Ordered to Pay $2.4 Million

Summary: The divorce of TV star and singer Hilary Duff was finalized this week.

Hilary Duff is officially single again.

The divorce between her and former NHL star Mike Comrie is now final, TMZ reports. TMZ reports that Duff has to pay her baby’s daddy $2.4 million but she gets to keep their Beverly Hills mansion along with their other property which includes a luxury trailer home in Malibu.

Comrie gets to keep his Bentley, a Mercedes SUV, and a bunch of jewelry.

The former star of Lizzie Mcguire, 28, and Comrie, 35, will share custody of their son, Luca. They will split the cost of child-rearing and neither spouse will receive alimony.

The Daily Mail reports that the couple was married in 2010 after three years of dating. They announced they were divorcing in January of 2014.

Before the divorce, Duff spoke publicly about her relationship to the press, and she sounded optimistic and positive. She was also seen around town with Comrie, prompting reconciliation rumors; but it turns out she was just keeping their relationship amicable.

“Mike and I were very in love when we met,” Duff told Cosmopolitan in April 2015. “We both really wanted to get married. I’d been working since the age of 11 or 12, so making that choice at a young age seemed right for me. Maybe it wasn’t, but we spent the majority of our time together really happy.”

Before their divorce was filed, there appeared to be distance between Duff and Comrie. Us Weekly reports that sources saw Comrie at Beverly Hills steakhouse Mastro’s. He was drunk and noisy, and he aggressively hit on his waitress. Sources also said that he threw money at another woman and asked for sex. A source said his behavior that night made Duff realize their marriage was over.

Duff told Cosmopolitan that her failed marriage had her rethinking marriage altogether.

“I don’t want to sound bitter because I’m definitely not. But I don’t know if people are meant to be together forever. Things happen over a long relationship that you can’t always fight. A marriage of 20 years, the accomplishment of that must feel really great, but there are also huge sacrifices. I just always want to fight for happiness.”

Duff is currently starring in the television show, Younger, on TV Land.
