This week, The Phoenix Business Journal released its top law firms in the city. The list was ranked by local attorneys, who awarded the number one placing to Snell & Wilmer, who won the slot in 1987 when the list was first introduced.

The following is a list of the top 5 rankings.


1. Snell & Wilmer, LLP

Law Crossing reports that Snell & Wilmer started in the 1930s, and today, it is one of the largest firms in the western United States. The firm has eight other locations besides the Phoenix Office, and it is well known as a full service business law firm. It employs 400 attorneys.


2. Fennemore Craig PC

Fennemore Craig employs 200 attorneys, and on its website it states, “Fennemore Craig has helped the West’s entrepreneurs as well as its largest businesses for more than 130 years.” Law Crossing reports Phoenix holds Fennemore Craig’s largest office out of its five locations, and that it has 22.4% women attorneys and 11.6% minority attorneys.



3. Quarles & Brady LLP

Quarles & Brady is the 107th largest law firm in the United States, and it has seven offices and over 400 attorneys and 255 partners, according to Law Crossing. It was formed in 1974 when Brady Tyrrell Cotter & Cutler and Quarles Herriott Clemons Teschner & Noelke merged.



4. Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie LLP

This month, we reported Lewis Roca Rothgerber LLP of Arizona and the California firm Christie, Parker & Hale LLP merged to form Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie LLP. The firm specializes in intellectual property and has 580 attorneys across five states. Before the merger, Lewis Roca Rothgerber was one of Arizona’s largest firms.



5. Jones, Skelton & Hochuli PLC

Litigtion firm Jones, Skelton & Hochuli states on its website that it was formed in 1983 with 12 lawyers with a primary focus of insurance defense. It has since grown to employ 83 attorneys and 125 support staff, and it specializes in insurance matters, litigation and other areas related to business, corporate, and government law.
