Paramount Assistants Claimed They Had to Poop in Their Cars

Movie still from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Summary: Four parking production assistants sue Paramount Pictures and other production companies for allegedly forcing them to poop in their cars.

The newest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies may have been crappy, but we didn’t know how crappy until now. Four parking production assistants (PPAs) are suing Paramount Pictures, Nickelodeon Movies, Regency Films, and other production companies because they allegedly were forced to defecate in their cars while working, The New York Post reports.

Christian Pellot, Joscelyn Wint, Ali Muhammed and Johnathan Tucker claim that their working conditions on these movies sets were literally shitty. They were not allowed to leave their parking lot posts during filming so they ended up turning their cars into bathrooms. In the suit filed in Manhattan, the plaintiffs said they were forced to urinate and defecate in bottles and buckets in their vehicles while the filming occurred.

The plaintiffs worked on movies such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Wolf of Wall Street. They said that they were required to work 60 or more hours per week with no overtime pay. They claimed that they were paid a flat rate of $140-160 a day for a typical 12-hour shift.

The suit further states that the PPAs were not given food while other workers on set were given dinner, and that in cold weather, they ran their cars in order to stay warm and were not compensated for the expense.

The plaintiffs are demanding back pay and damages for lost compensation and benefits.

It would be interesting to see what the judge rules. After all, the minimum wage in New York is $8.75. If the plaintiffs worked 8 hours with 4 hours of overtime, their pay would be $122.50 (8*$8.75 + 4*$13.125), which is less than their day rates. Either way, it sounds like their job stank.
