Summary: Thomas Mesereau has been dropped as Suge Knight’s lawyer.

Former rap mogul Suge Knight continues to shuffle his legal team now that Thomas Mesereau and Sharon Appelbaum have been relieved of counsel, NBC LA reports. Mesereau got pop legend Michael Jackson acquitted of child molestation charges and joined Knight’s team in May 2015.

Knight, 50, faces and array of charges, including stealing a camera from a paparazzo in September 2014 and making criminal threats. Micah “Katt” Williams is also charged in that case, and both have pleaded not guilty.

Further, Knight is charged with one count of murder and a second count of attempted murder for a hit-and-run, which killed 55-year-old Terry Carter and hurt Cle “Bone” Sloan in January of 2015. Knight allegedly drove a pickup truck and hit them in a parking lot.

Knight pleaded not guilty, claiming self defense, in response to the security video of him running over the two men.

Mesereau declined comment on the change of counsel. He was the fourth, and now former Stephen L. Schwartz replaces him as his fifth lawyer handling these charges. The change was decided behind a closed-door meeting between defense attorneys and Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Ronald. S. Coen. Thaddeus Culpepper will remain on his team.
