Attorney Claims Child Pornography Images Were Research for Sexual Graphic Novel

Summary: Research for a sexually explicit graphic novel turned into a fascination with child pornography, or so an accused attorney claims.

An attorney from an Upper Gwynedd law firm has been arrested for child pornography. Sixty-five-year-old George Bock Ditter of Perkiomenville is accused of using his work computer to search for, view, and acquire images of child pornography.

Ditter was arraigned on November 3 for ten counts of felony possession of child pornography and one count of felony criminal use of a communication facility before Whitpain District Judge Robert Sobeck. A joint investigation by Upper Gwynedd and Montgomery County detectives started a month ago after a partner in the law firm reported that an employee was obtaining child pornography on the firm’s computers.

The employee was first aware of the issue when he went to retrieve a fax from the office copier in late September. In the copier tray were two printed images. One image displayed two naked males in a sexual act. The employee watched to see who retrieved the images, which ended up being Ditter.

Ditter explained that the images were research for a sexually graphic novel he was writing. The partner told Ditter that possession and printing of such materials was against the company’s policy. Ditter asked the partner, “Let’s just keep this between us. Please don’t tell anyone about this.”

A week or so later a virus was detected on the firm’s computer server, requiring a tech company to come in and remove the virus. The tech employees found two more explicit images of young teenaged males on a shared drive. They traced the images back to Ditter. On Ditter’s work computer, they recovered image searches using the terms “really young teen boys” and other sexually explicit search phrases. Images were also found on a temporary cache folder that detectives called child pornography.

Ditter claims the searches started for his book, but revealed an unknown interest into child pornography. He is being held on $100,000 bail and will be formally arraigned January 6.
