Greenberg Traurig Expands Tax Practice in California

Summary: The Tax Practice at Greenberg Traurig has received two new shareholders to their Orange County office.

Greenberg Traurig, LLP is continuing its growth and ability to provide needed resources to clients. They have added two new shareholders to their Tax Practice group in Orange County, California. C. Stephen Davis and Cris O’Neall are tax attorneys coming from Cahill, Davis & O’Neall. Cahill Davis is a specialized property tax firm that serves clients in a variety of local and state tax issues in relation to real estate.

Matthew Gorson, co-chairman of Greeberg Traurig, said “We are excited that these highly skilled attorneys are joining Greenberg Traurig. Our California Tax Practice will be further strengthened with this team of esteemed tax lawyers who can serve our clients on issues ranging from tax assessment litigation, to refund controversies.”

Davis will focus his work on litigating property tax controversies that go before local assessment appeals boards, courts of appeal, superior courts, and the California Supreme Court. He frequently speaks on property tax matters and writes for tax-related publications. He also works as an adjunct professor at Loyola Law School where he teaches California property tax.

O’Neall will focus his work on cases of ad valoreum property tax, litigation, and assessment counseling. His clients come from a variety of industries, including energy, oil, healthcare, and hospitality. He will also represent taxpayers that go before assessment appeals boards and other forums. He currently serves on the CalTax Board of Directors.
