Chicago Bulls Star Derrick Rose Accused of Rape

Summary: A former girlfriend of Derrick Rose, that has been seeking money from Rose for some time, has filed a lawsuit claiming she was gang raped by Rose and two friends.

The Chicago Bulls used to be a team that everyone knew when Michael Jordan was rocking the court. Now the team name occasionally pops out on the cover of news reports. The Chicago Bulls has resurfaced but not in a way they wanted. Bulls star Derrick Rose is being accused of rape by an ex-girlfriend.

The lawsuit brought against Rose is accusing him and two of his friends of drugging and gang raping “Jane Doe.” Rose is of course denying the accusations and stating that he was in a consensual sexual relationship with the woman for two years.

The report states that the woman was invited over to Rose’s home where she was drugged. She was able to return to her apartment where the three men showed up and then gang raped her.

Rose’s spokeswoman, Lisa Cohen, is questioning the timing of the accusation, two years after the alleged event occurred and after demanding money from Rose. Cohen stated “this is nothing more than a desperate attempt to shake down a highly respected and successful athlete. The plaintiff expressed no complaints about Mr. Rose until various lawyers began to surface and demand the plaintiff be paid millions of dollars. This is the third lawyer the plaintiff has retained in this matter.”

The woman claims she was afraid to come forward for fear of retaliation and because she was in a consensual sexual relationship with Rose.

The attorneys the plaintiff has acquired now are Brandon Anand and Thaddeus Culpeper. The records for the California Bar Association show that Culpeper has been sanctioned three times since 2010 and has not been allowed to practice for periods of time.

Chicago athletes appear to be the subject of sexual assault accusations. Earlier this month, Blackhawks star Patrick Kane was accused of raping a woman at his New York home. The investigation is still going and no charges have been brought against him yet.
