A July graduate of Temple University Law School was found shot to death in his car. Police were alerted to the 2007 black Audi A8 after it had been sitting in the business parking lot for an unusual amount of time. Shazim Uppal, 27, was found in the driver’s seat with gunshots to his upper body outside Genesis Healthcare, a nursing home.
Uppal is from Hockessin, Delaware. He is the eldest son in his family and is from one of the largest Muslim families in Delaware. Police are still investigating the shooting.
Temple University School of Law is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The school started in 1895 as the Department of Law for Temple College. They are committed to providing opportunities for students that are not traditionally able to obtain legal educations because of barriers like race, creed, gender, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, socioeconomic background, and other reasons.
The Law School’s areas of study include trial advocacy, business and tax law, international law, intellectual property and technology law, public interest law, and legal research and writing.
In 2014, Temple Law had 252 graduates, 203 of which are now employed in full-time positions. Only 180 are employed in positions that require admission to the Bar. Eleven of the graduates are employed in positions funded by the law school.
