Lawyer for Patrick Kane Breaks His Silence on Facebook

Summary: Hockey star Patrick Kane’s lawyer has started defending his client not in the traditional venue of a courtroom but on Facebook.

Blackhawks star, Patrick Kane, is being investigated for the rape of a woman he met at a bar and then took home to his place in suburban Buffalo. His lawyer, Paul Cambria, would always respond to questions about the investigation with “no comment” until he started commenting on the Facebook posts of others regarding the incident.

He urged everyone to not jump to conclusions after blogger Alan Bedenko posted an article about Kane’s driver on that night, off-duty police officer Thomas English. The article suggests that everyone involved should keep their mouths shut since arguing over how drunk someone possibly was or whether or not everyone invited to Kane’s house wanted to go is irrelevant to the fact that the woman claims she was raped.

Cambria had an even bigger issue over Kane’s friends giving comments to the media but remaining anonymous, stating “If someone wants to make a statement why not identify yourself.” There have been a lot of people to step forward defending Kane’s character, including the owner of the bar, Marc Croce. Cambria stated in his Facebook comments that Croce had nothing to gain by defending Kane, and even missed out on having Kane bring the Stanley Cup to the bar after the allegations were made.

Kane has not been charged with anything yet.
