Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP Appoints New Chairman

Summary: After 26 years with Donald Mrozek at the lead, Hinshaw & Culbertson is embarking on a new adventure with the leadership of Kevin Burke.

In a press release from the Hinshaw & Culbertson, the law firm announced they are having a change of leadership. Donald L. Mrozek decided to step down after being the Chairman of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP since 1989. Kevin Joseph Burke has been elected to fill the position.

When Mrozek first started 26 years ago as Chairman of the firm, the regional insurance firm was only located in the Midwest and Florida. Now the firm has grown to have 550 lawyers in 11 states and internationally in London.

Mr. Mrozek can be credited with shaping the law firm into what it is today. He implemented several initiatives that have become trends in the industry such as market segment differentiation and streamlined law firm management. Mr. Mrozek was also essential in making diversity a principal part of the firm’s philosophy and strategic priorities.

The firm will continue to seek Mr. Mrozek’s expertise in finance, client relationship partnering, and lateral/merger growth and integration. He will continue to be active in his practice.

Mr. Burke has been with the firm since they were a multi-service, mid-market firm in the insurance industry. The firm was nationally expanding and gaining depth and strength in the market through their representation of business litigation, professionals, middle-market transactions, and consumer class action services.

He has been serving as the Vice Chairman for the last six years and a member of the Management Committee at the firm for over twelve years. Mr. Burke has worked with active trial cases for the past thirty years with an expertise in litigation of business disputes and health/medical lawsuits. Some of his qualifications include being a certified mediator and a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers.
