After Mark Bayer launched their Dallas office in June, Barnes & Thornburg LLP devised broad plans to explode with the active market, hiring up to 25 attorneys in the next 12 months. They announced today that they are heading in that direction with the addition of Jon B. Hyland and Thomas Haskins, to expand their Dallas office into a trio, with Bayer as office managing partner, Hyland a partner in their Intellectual Property department, and Haskins a partner in their Litigation Department.

“Jon and Thomas’ arrival shows that we are wasting no time in executing the aggressive recruiting strategy we put in place to build this into a full-service office,” said Bayer. “Texas is consistently one of the top venues for patent infringement lawsuits, among other complex litigation matters, which present a number of legal and business challenges to local, out-of-state and foreign companies. Jon and Thomas are talented trial attorneys who will help grow Barnes & Thornburg’s litigation team in the Southwest and nationally.”

The sort of growth they are anticipating inspired them to purchase 15,000 square feet of office space for the slew of lawyers they hope to hire in, with Bayer saying, “We are aiming to have 20 to 25 attorneys in Dallas within 12 months and believe this new office space reflects our growing presence and overall goal of becoming a destination for the region’s premier legal talent.”

The premier talent they’ve invited on board include Hyland, with his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law, who has represented domestic and international companies in intellectual property matters, and who brings a broad range of trial experience; and Haskins, with his J.D. from the New York University School of Law, who has worked in domestic and international litigation and alternative dispute resolution, and who has experience in general commercial matters, intellectual property, and white collar criminal defense.
