Gordon & Rees to Open Boston Office

Summary: Gordon & Rees will open its thirty-fifth United States office in Boston this week.

Gordon & Rees, a San Francisco-based law firm, will be opening a small office in Boston on Friday, the Boston Business Journal reports. The Boston office will focus on insurance coverage disputes and personal injury.

The office, located at 470 Atlantic Avenue, will include partner Bill Murray, managing partner John Robinson, and four associate attorneys. The firm currently employs 650 attorneys across the country, with 120 in San Francisco alone. The Boston office will be the firm’s 35th in the United States, which is an impressive number, even for the largest firms in the country. In just the past two years, Gordon & Rees has opened offices in Oakland; Philadelphia; Tampa; Birmingham; Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Charleston, South Carolina; and Raleigh, North Carolina. The firm’s Pittsburgh office doubled in February when it added eight shareholders and an associate attorney, according to the Pittsburgh Business Times.

Robinson joined the firm in February after leaving McCarter & English LLP. Robinson and Murray will divide their time between the Hartford, Connecticut office and the Boston office.

The firm filed a lawsuit against New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez.

The firm plans to add attorneys to the Boston office as client needs increase. “We will situate ourselves to serve our clients as best we can,” Robinson said.
