Acritas has recently released its U.S. Law Firm Brand Index for 2015, according to its website, Acritas.com. This list shows U.S. law firms listed by their brand equity, as perceived by senior officials in companies with revenues in excess of $50 million.
Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom scored a brand index of 100, taking the top spot on the list. According to Wikipedia, Skadden was founded in 1948 in New York City and is one of the highest-grossing firms on the planet. However, competitors are quickly catching up to Skadden: Baker & McKenzie took third place with a brand index of 76. Wikipedia notes that Jones Day is the third largest firm in the world, and, also according to Wikipedia, Baker McKenzie is the largest firm in the world according to revenue.
Skadden was the top firm in 2014 for mergers and acquisitions work.
To be successful, it is necessary for these firms to stand out in some manner. Those firms that are able to match the services they offer with what clients want will be the most successful.
Baker & McKenzie opened a new office in Belfast last year.
In fact, expertise, service, and relationships are the top factors that increase client favorability toward law firms. Many of the top firms have increased their efforts in these areas in such a way that differentiating between each factor is difficult.
