Polsinelli Will Move into New Chicago Tower

Summary: Law Firm Polsinelli will be moving into a new 53-story tower by the Chicago River.

According to Chicago Business, Polsinelli has outgrown its Loop offices. It will now move to a tower currently under construction in the West Loop.

The firm is based in Kansas City, Missouri. Polsinelli has signed a thirteen-year lease to occupy around 112,000 square feet in the riverside tower. The construction is being built by John O’Donnell, a Chicago developer. The tower will provide 1.2 million square feet of space, and is located at 150 N. Riverside Plaza. The 53-story tower will face the Chicago River.

The firm has already outgrown its offices six times in eight years. Recently, it added 30,000 square feet at its 161 N. Clark Street office. As of now, it has roughly 89,000 square feet in three separate blocks. Anthony Nasharr, the managing director of the Chicago office, said, “We pride ourselves on connectivity between our practice groups and colleagues, and those three disconnected sections of space are mildly disruptive. We were looking for a place where we could have contiguous growth.”

The firm added two attorneys to its Dallas office in 2011.

Polsinelli had narrowed its choices down to the new tower and the Franklin Center. McDermott Will & Emery, another law firm, is leaving the Franklin Center for River Point, which is another new tower under construction not too far from where Polsinelli will be located.

The firm also acquired Hensley Kim in 2011.

Nasharr added that the lease will be for floors 27 to 30. The firm will have the option to add two more floors. The move is currently scheduled for early 2017. The firm will join Hyatt Hotels, private-equity firm Victory Park Capital Advisors, and William Blair, an investment firm.

Texas is experiencing a boom in law firms.

Polsinelli started with six lawyers in a Chicago office in 2006. The firm expects to hire its 100th lawyer in January.
