Vinson & Elkins Promotes Eight to Partnership

Summary: The law firm of Vinson & Elkins announced that eight new partners have been named at the firm in offices across the country.

The law firm of Vinson & Elkins announced via a press release this week that it has promoted eight lawyers into the partnership, effective on January 1, 2015.

The eight new partners are David Cole, Devika Kornbacher and Kai Haakon Liekefett in the Houston office; Tirzah Lollar and Jeremy Marwell in the Washington, D.C. office; John Grand and Russell Oshman in the Dallas office and Tzvi Werzberger in the New York office.

Mark Kelly, the chair of Vinson & Elkins, said, “We are extremely appreciative of the hard work and outstanding leadership of each of these individuals and are pleased to welcome them to the partnership. These promotions are a reflection of their strong commitment to V&E and our clients.”

The eight newly promoted partners will strengthen seven practice areas at the law firm: appellate, complex commercial litigation, finance, intellectual property, mergers and acquisitions, real estate and tax.

Scott Wulfe, the managing partner of the firm, said, “These incredibly talented lawyers have made significant contributions to the firm, and they each exhibit the qualities we look for in our partners. They have demonstrated a high level of skill in their respective practice areas and a dedication to excellent client service. We look forward to their continued success.”

Marwell works in the appellate practice. He handles civil and criminal issues in front of the U.S. Supreme Court and multiple federal and state courts. He earned his law degree from New York University School of Law and clerked for Judge Stephen F. Williams of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

Lollar works in the complex commercial litigation practice. Lollar focuses on government investigations, white-collar criminal defense and litigation. Lollar’s clients seek representation for False Claims Act, government contracts, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and procurement fraud issues. She earned her law degree from University of Virginia School of Law.

Werzberger works in the finance practice focusing on finance law for private equity sponsors, corporate borrowers, high net worth individuals, portfolio companies, hedge funds, financing providers and alternative lenders. He received his law degree from New York University School of Law.

Kornbacher works in the intellectual property practice representing clients in the entertainment, energy, hardware, software, sports, construction and aviation industries. She is a graduate of Harvard Law School.

Grand is in the mergers and acquisitions practice at the firm. He focuses on energy transactions and private equity investments. He earned a law degree from Louisiana State University Law Center.

Liekefett is also in the mergers and acquisitions practice. He earned his law degree from the University of Freiburg Law School.

Oshman works in the real estate practice representing hedge funds, private equity investors, REITs, developers, energy firms and financial institutions. He earned his law degree from Southern Methodist University.

The tax practice is where Cole resides with the firm. He works on international and domestic issues for partnerships, corporations and high net worth individuals. He earned his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law.
