Perkins Coie Announces Addition of Sean J. Grygiel to New York Office

Summary: Perkins Coie has announced that Sean J. Grygiel has joined the firm in their New York office as a member of the intellectual property practice.

The law firm of Perkins Coie announced via a press release today that Sean J. Grygiel has joined the firm in New York as a partner. Grygiel will work in the Intellectual Property practice.

He will focus on post-grant procedures, strategic counseling and portfolio development.

He comes to the firm from Fish & Richardson, where he was a principal.

“With experience developing high-value patent assets for early-stage technology companies, and as a co-founder and COO of his own startup, Sean is particularly skilled at handling the critical issues with managing and protecting IP,” said Paul Parker, chair of Perkins Coie’s IP practice.  “Sean’s innovative and entrepreneurial approach is a great fit for our practice nationally and in New York.”

Grygiel represents clients involving mechanical and electrical systems, medical devices, wireless and telecommunications, Internet services, software and energy/alternative energy matters.

He has represented clients in product clearance opinions, traditional patent and trademark prosecution, post-grant procedures, freedom-to-operate studies, licensing and litigation support.

Grygiel earned his law degree from The George Washington University Law School and his bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the United States Coast Guard Academy.
