How to Redecorate Your Bathroom on a Budget

Summary: Recently I’ve wanted to do a little redecorating in my bathroom, but I didn’t really have the budget to do anything nice. Here’s what I ended up doing.

Recently I’ve wanted to do a little redecorating in my bathroom, but coming off a year of temp work and starting out at a low salary, I didn’t really have the budget to do anything nice. I decided to shop around for a few weeks until I found exactly what I wanted – but at a discount. This involved going to several stores over the course of a few weeks as well as searching online. It certainly took longer than I wanted, but that’s how you’ve got to do it when you’re shopping on a budget!

Previously, my bathroom had a red, white and black snoopy shower curtain (a gift from my mom), paired with a teal bath mat and dark emerald-ish towels. It was okay, but not what I really wanted. Here’s the only image I could find… I guess photos of your bathroom aren’t common…

I originally found some pink towels at TJ Maxx that I liked and started from there and then found some color inspiration on Pinterest:

From there, I searched for a shower curtain that had gold and white. This was by far the hardest part, but finally I found the perfect one at a Home Goods store. I selected a white bath mat (although now I’m thinking pink might have been a better choice – it never ends!) and went and bought those towels I’d seen at TJ Maxx.

Here is the final look:

I have very little space in my bathroom and ZERO counter space. However, if I were going to put a few things on a counter, I saw some great stuff at IKEA, especially these scented candles that came in many different colors. I got this candle from Ikea for my living room, but a white one or one in a little gold candle holder would be perfect:

Other places to look for “little extras” would be Home Goods or TJ Maxx. These are by far my favorite stores for home decorating because they often have some really great deals, and they’re perfect for inspiration.
