Data Shows Which Law Schools Offer Best Value

Summary: New data from FindTheBest analyzes and compares first-time bar passage rates and law school tuition to determine the law schools with the best value.

According to a new chart of data from FindTheBest, paying the most for law school does not always increase your chances of passing the bar exam on the first attempt.

On the other hand, it does not seem to hurt your chances of passing on the first attempt either.

The chart shows that 100 percent of law graduates from the University of Wisconsin pass the bar on their first attempt. They pay tuition of $21,365 to attend law school. At $40,000 per year, the students at Marquette do just as well. The reason for this is that students from both of those law schools can be admitted to the state bar using the diploma privilege, which does not require them to sit for the bar exam.

The best Ivy League law school on the chart is that of Harvard, which has a 96 percent first-attempt pass rate for its law graduates.

FindTheBest used data from the American Bar Association Standard 509 Information Reports. The rankings used by FindTheBest came from the Gourman Report, U.S. News & World Report and Educational Quality Ratings.

With tuition closing in on $58,000, Columbia law school boasts a first-time bar passage rate of 95 percent.
