Melissa Rivers Hires Law Firm to Investigate Joan Rivers’ Death

Summary: Melissa Rivers has hired a NYC law firm to investigate the sudden death of her mother, comedian Joan Rivers.

The news of comedian Joan Rivers’ death shocked her daughter Melissa, and after it was announced that her mother had died from a predictable complication of her medical therapy, her daughter merely tweeted that “we continue to be saddened by our tragic loss.” However, now that she’s grieved some, she’s asking questions, and further still, she’s hired NYC-based law firm Gair, Gair, Conason, Steigman, Mackauf, Bloom & Rubinowitz to investigate the nature of her mother’s untimely death.

After all, Joan Rivers, 81, had sought medical attention to address a rasp in her voice, and was administered an unplanned throat biopsy, during her Aug. 28 visit. The biopsy caused her to stop breathing, and she died from low oxygen to the brain.

“In order to fully determine the facts and circumstances surrounding the death of Joan Rivers, we confirm that our firm has been engaged by Melissa Rivers and her family,” said Gair partner Ben Rubinowitz in a statement. He declined to confirm that Rivers intends to file a lawsuit, but many sources suggest she is considering levying a multi-million lawsuit against the clinic.

Not that it’s about money. Us reported that Melissa inherited her mother’s estate of $75 million in cash and her $35 million condo. “It’s no consolation for losing her mother so soon,” said a source to Us.

Instead the suit, if it is raised, would perhaps be to give Melissa and her family a sense of closure.
