Gambino was found hanging from a stairway banister, according to the Wall Street Journal.

He worked for the bank on legal matters involving the Libor scandal after an investigation into the bank was launched in 2012.

“Charlie was a beloved and respected colleague who we will miss. Our thoughts and sympathy are with his friends and family,” Deutsche Bank said in a statement.

The bank is the biggest lender in Germany and has paid fines and settlements since the scandal was discovered almost three years ago. The allegations claim that employees manipulated the Libor benchmark interest rate and currency markets in the scandal.

Gambino is the second employee of the bank to commit suicide this year. Former manager William Broeksmit was found dead in his home in London. He hung himself too.

When Broeksmit was found dead, a spokesman from the bank said he “was not under suspicion of wrongdoing in any matter.”
