Dinsmore Moves to New Office in Chicago

Summary: It was announced this week via a press release that Dinsmore & Shohl has moved its office space to a new location in Chicago.

The law firm of Dinsmore & Shohl LLP has announced via a press release that it has moved to a new location in the city of Chicago. The firm is now located in the Franklin Center on West Monroe Street.

The move helped the firm more than triple its square footage of office space.

The office in Chicago was acquired back in March when the firm merged with Peck Shaffer & Williams.

Eight attorneys have joined the firm since the spring, which put the firm’s former location at capacity.

Robert Lucas, the Office Managing Partner said, “The Chicago legal market has a lot of mobility right now, and there are many incentives to joining Dinsmore. We offer clients quality services with the value that comes from being a Cincinnati based firm. That’s a big advantage that we can leverage, and attorneys are taking notice. My issue wasn’t attracting the top talent.  It started to become, do we have enough offices for them.”

At the firm’s previous location, there was just over 3,700 square feet of space. The new office has almost 12,000 square feet of space.

Gloria Materre, a Chicago partner in real estate, said, “The market is slowly starting to rebound, but the economic downturn caused many companies to downsize, including law firms. There has also been an increase in mergers among large firms, so you’re seeing a consolidation of space in the legal industry.”

Jones Lang LaSalle, a services company in commercial real estate, found that some mid-to-large law firms have begun to consolidate their space. The study found that the firms have decreased their square footage by 17 percent in 2014 compared to just 14 percent in 2013.

“Our goal is to utilize every resource available at Dinsmore to help our clients save time and do more,” said Lucas.  “Pairing the value we provide with flexibility goes a long way to developing a partnership with our clients to grow their business.”
