In-house attorney jobs have now become an inevitable part of the corporate business system. Across the US, the role is developing and growing. In-house attorneys are increasingly being seen as an investment and not as a cost, an integral and crucial constituent of all businesses, big or small. This has led to the opening up of hundreds of in-house attorney jobs in New York City as businesses across the spectrum seek to effectively navigate the complex legal landscape of this great city.

A scrutiny of, the country’s definitive job-search resource, will evidence the growing demand for in-house attorneys, not only in New York City but across the country. Legal experts opine that the spurt in demand is owing to the increasing number of employee court cases, excessive interference of labor unions, complex state and federal laws, and constant changes in state and federal legislation. Corporate companies were also finding that outside legal resources were considerably more expensive than inside legal resources, and seeking in-house attorneys was a wise cost-reduction move.

An on board attorney provides the company with a legal security blanket and attends to all legal and even business duties. Most attorneys will also have to provide advice on issues that are not typically legal because the company’s executives, to whom the in-house attorney is answerable, cannot really differentiate between legal and business issues. Basically, the attorney has to keep the legal and business interests of their company in mind and safeguard its legal interest at all times.

Among other things, in-house attorneys have begun to play a more strategic and proactive role, and it has become obvious that they add value to their companies through their contributions. They help protect the intellectual assets, formulate a company-wide dispute prevention policy, and provide an employee and employer training system that leads to a proper understanding and respect for each other’s rights and responsibilities.

Many people are extremely keen to make the transition but are somehow apprehensive of shifting to New York City, alarmed and troubled by the reports of it being very crowded and very expensive. Life is hard, but so it is everywhere else, but New York is a welcoming city. The positives far outweigh the negatives to allow it to dissuade you from pursuing your dreams.

The city may be expensive but the enjoyment and esteem are free. Where else can you order a pizza at 3:00 in the morning and get it delivered in 10 minutes flat? The respect and prestige that comes with working in New York is unparalleled and worth all the sacrifice and pressures.

The median annual wage for in-house corporate attorneys is dependent on many aspects, primarily level of education, experience, and the size and standing of the company they work for. Attorneys in the private sector stand to earn more than what they would have earned in their private practices, but it is worth noting that companies do not pay by the amount of work done, but pay according to their predetermined pay scales. Your salary band and not your efforts will determine how much you take home.

All said and done, in-house attorney jobs in New York City are among the most coveted and landing one could mean a career move that has only one direction and that is up. Depending on one’s drive, enthusiasm, and capability, there is no limit to what you can achieve and a million dollar paycheck will not remain just the stuff of imagination and dreams.
