Glen Campbell’s Final Song Will Make You Cry

Summary: Glen Campbell’s final song will bring you to tears. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2011, but there is still no cure for this debilitating disease.

Glen Campbell is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame. He is one of the most popular country music singers of his time. If you have never been a fan of his, or even of country music, you surely will like his latest song.

Campbell was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2011.

Campbell released his final song and video of his career this week. The song was produced in 2013 and it is called “I’m Not Gonna Miss You.”

Because of the progression of the disease, he was admitted to a care facility in April. His family sent the following statement to Rolling Stone:

“Sadly, Glen’s condition has progressed enough that we were no longer able to keep him at home. He is getting fantastic care and we get to see him every day. Our family wants to thank everyone for their continued prayers, love and support.”

The lyrics to the song are very powerful:

I’m still here, but yet I’m gone
I don’t play guitar or sing my songs
They never defined who I am
The man that loves you ’til the end
You’re the last person I will love
You’re the last face I will recall
And best of all, I’m not gonna to miss you.
Not gonna miss you.
I’m never gonna hold you like I did
Or say I love you to the kids
You’re never gonna see it in my eyes
It’s not gonna hurt me when you cry
I’m never gonna know what you go through
All the things I say or do
All the hurt and all the pain
One thing selfishly remains
I’m not gonna miss you
I’m not gonna miss you
