Amanda Bynes Arrested Again for DUI

Summary: Troubled starlet Amanda Bynes is arrested again for DUI.

Amanda Bynes is at it again, with a new reckless driving charge hoisted against her. Police arrested Bynes Sunday at 3:30 a.m. after observing her run a red light only to stop awkwardly in the intersection. Upon questioning, it became apparent she was under the influence of drugs.

“She ran a red light and stopped in the middle of a t-shaped intersection,” said a spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol, in reference to her arrest in Sherman Oaks, California. “Our officer observed her, and she appeared under the influence. She was unable to complete sobriety tests, at which point she was taken to our station.”

The relapse of behavior is not too surprising, if the examples of Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan are any indication of what to expect. All three were child-stars who tarnished their innocent image through bizarre behavior as adults.

In the case of Bynes, she has received a series of police run-ins regarding driving under the influence, and a couple hit-and-runs. Many of these incidents were settled without jail time, as was the incident in which she threw a bong out her apartment window upon police entering her room, which the judge agreed to dismiss if she received counseling.

Her surprising behavior culminated in July of 2013 when she set a stranger’s driveway on fire for no apparent reason. She was subsequently diagnosed with schizophrenia, sources told The News, and has been put in a mental health conservatorship under her parents’ control, which recently ended.

This, combined with some lewd tweets regarding rapper Drake and some random tweet attacks upon singer Rihanna made her the subject of public discussion regarding her mental health.

Though her mother’s lawyer had said “She’s made great strides in her progress,” it appears she has not fully escaped her personal demons, and may require more help from family and therapists to remain sober and safe.
