DLA Piper Names Carl Buchholz as Managing Partner in Philadelphia Office

Summary: Carl Buchholz will succeed Jim Brogan as the managing partner in DLA Piper’s Philadelphia office. Jim Brogan has been named co-chair of the firm’s U.S. litigation practice.

DLA Piper is pleased to announce that Carl Buchholz has been promoted to managing partner in the firm’s Philadelphia office. Buchholz will succeed Jim Brogan, who has been named co-chair of the U.S. litigation practice.

Mr. Brogan became the office managing partner in 2006. During his time in this role, he raised the profile of the Philadelphia office both nationally and internationally, and advocated its strong commitment to local pro bono service. The firm’s pro bono service focuses especially on education, veterans, and senior citizens. The office houses 45 lawyers, and a total of 80 employees.

Brogan spoke warmly of Buchholz, saying, “Carl has consistently proven his leadership skills and is widely respected as a lawyer with tremendous vision. He also recognizes the current and potential value of increasing our local profile, and with his impressive standing in the local community for his legal work, government relations and community service, will bring to clients in Philadelphia the same level of service our clients expect worldwide.”
