Mayer Brown Welcomes Gabriela Sakamoto to their D.C. Office

Summary: The law firm of Mayer Brown has welcomed Gabriela Sakamoto back to the firm, this time as a partner in the Washington, D.C. office.

The law firm of Mayer Brown announced via a press release that Gabriela Sakamoto has joined the firm in its Washington, D.C. office.

Sakamoto will work as a partner in the firm’s Banking & Finance Practice and Latin America, Emerging Markets and Projects groups.

Sakamoto comes to the firm from Chadbourne & Parke LLP. She worked at Mayer Brown earlier in her career as an associate.

She has represented clients on issues regarding structured finance, project finance and acquisition finance.

“We are delighted to welcome Gaby back to the firm,” said Douglas A. Doetsch, co-leader of Mayer Brown’s global Banking & Finance practice and leader of the firm’s Latin America group. “Gaby’s experience handling structured finance transactions in Latin America and other emerging markets will contribute substantially to our continued ability to deliver leading services to clients on a global scale.”

Gabriela Sakamoto said, “I’m thrilled to be returning to the firm where I began my legal career. Mayer Brown has a highly regarded Latin American finance practice and rejoining the firm presents a great opportunity for me to continue to expand my practice by leveraging the firm’s tremendous global platform.”

The partner-in-charge of Mayer Brown’s Washington, D.C. office, Daniel Masur, said that the addition of Sakamoto continues to growth of the firm in 2014:

“In 2014, we have already added more than two dozen lateral partners and other lawyers in key practice areas to build upon the firm’s global platform and cross-practice capabilities and better serve the changing demands of our multinational clients.”

Sakamoto earned her law degree from New York University School of Law and her BA from Columbia University. Sakamoto is fluent in both English and Spanish. She conducts deals in both languages for her clients.
