Global law firm Jones Day announced this week that Jonathan Bloom is joining the Firm as a Capital Markets Practice partner in its London Office.

Bloom was previously a partner in the London finance group of Ropes & Gray, where his practice focused on corporate and finance transactions, with particular emphasis on high yield debt offerings and fund-related special situations transactions. Bloom acts for private equity funds and their portfolio companies, hedge funds, corporate borrowers and issuers, underwriters, and secured lenders. He has recently acted for GoldenTree Asset Management, BlackRock, KKR Asset Management, and Vision Capital. Bloom is qualified to practice in New York and is a Registered Foreign Lawyer in England and Wales.

John Phillips, Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day‘s London Office, said “Jonathan will prove to be a significant addition to our broad finance capability in London, as well as adding crucial high yield experience.”

Phillips added further, “As global corporate investment strategies are driven by the search for yield, our clients are increasingly demanding experienced high yield advice. High yield bonds are a funding tool in the debt capital markets and in private equity, restructuring and M&A situations, so Jonathan’s experience will benefit our clients in all these areas.”

Giles Elliott, Capital Markets Practice Leader at Jones Day in London, said “Jones Day regularly advises clients on transactions with multiple layers of financing, including high yield debt, and Jonathan’s considerable experience in both New York and London will help us provide seamless, coordinated advice on the most complex, cross-border matters.”
