7-Year-Old Reports His Mother’s Meth Lab

Summary: A 7-year-old boy recently turned in his mom to police after showing the meth lab she had in the trunk of her car to her boyfriend’s brother.

Sometimes a child knows when things aren’t right. A Florida woman’s 7-year-old son had such a hunch about his mother and her meth lab, and told her boyfriend’s brother, Peter Arnold. He said “There’s really bad stuff in my mom’s car that I want to show you,” as My News 13 reported. Sensing that something was wrong about his mother mixing up methamphetamines, he confided in an adult he felt he could trust.

Peter Arnold discovered amidst the children’s toys in his mother’s trunk two syringes, hot plates, and various other drug-producing paraphernalia, compelling him to call 911 and report the woman.

Briana Buchanan, 26, was therefore charged not only with drug charges, but also child neglect charges, in consideration that the production of methamphetamine can create an atmosphere dangerous in general, but especially to children.

Briana has hence been set at $32,000 bail, while her son was taken into the care of his grandmother.

It took a few days for the boy to muster the courage to tell the boyfriend’s friend about the stash in his mother’s car, but bothered by the situation, he finally divulged it to the closest adult he felt he could trust. Naturally it is difficult to hide a bad situation, even from one’s children.
