Obama Discusses Executive Orders

On Wednesday, President Barack Obama said that he will scour laws and regulations of the country in an effort to find out what authority he has to issue executive orders, according to Fox News. He also said that he was never given the ‘green light’ to violate White House or Constitutional powers.

“I am bound by the Constitution and the separation of powers,” Obama said during a press conference at the State Department. “Congress has the power of the purse.”

During his comments, Obama talked about foreign policy and domestic issues. These topics include the border crisis and the conflicts in Ukraine and Israel.

The president has requested $3.7 billion from Congress to help the U.S. border in the south. This is where tens of thousands of Central American youths crossed the border illegally over the past handful of months.

Obama began his event saying that the United States and 50 African countries have agreed to work together on issue surrounding health care, government corruption and security.

“The entire world has a stake in peacekeeping in Africa,” Obama said. “Africa will always have a strong partner in the United States.”

Obama also announced that $33 billion in commitments from the private sector will be invested in Africa and to help create jobs in the United States.
