HBO Host Calls Out Dr. Oz and Supplement Industry

John Oliver has never strayed away criticizing Dr. Oz or the nutritional supplement industry. He recently used his show on HBO to call out Dr. Oz once again and this time was just too good to pass up. You really should take time to watch this segment, which we have embedded in this post. We know it is quite lengthy, more than 16 minutes, but it is worth your time. You certainly will enjoy it.

Oliver went after Dr. Oz following the testimony he gave on Capitol Hill recently. Oliver was not a fan of Dr. Oz’s answers during his testimony, which came about because he touts untested weight loss supplements without knowing if they will help or not.

Oliver opened his diatribe with the following:

“I would like to talk about doctors. They’re among our most trusted professionals. Nearly 70% of us rate them highly on ethical standards. Our lives and occasionally our balls are in their hands. Which is why it was especially troubling last week to see this.

With a syndicated TV show, magazine, and website, Dr. Oz has become one of America’s most trusted docs. But on Capitol Hill Tuesday, he was on the hot seat.”

At the end of the video, Oliver talks about tap dancing and how to engage the public about products without recommending unregulated products.
