Benjamin J. Horwich is continuing his successful career now that Munger, Tolles & Olson announced they are taking him on board. Horwich has spent a five-year tenure as Assistant to the Solicitor General, a position that has offered him a wealth of experience one could get nowhere else. He has filed around 200 briefs for the Supreme court and played an important role in just about every competition law matter since 2009, making him especially apt in matters of antitrust litigation. Nevertheless, his exposure far exceeds antitrust issues, and he has worked with pharmaceuticals, food production and marketing, banking, and power generation. His next step is leaving the federal courts and working again in the private sector.

Naturally enough, he is seeking consonance between his federal work and the upcoming challenges back in the private sector, but with his wide-ranging experience, which began with a chemistry degree from Princeton and a Law Degree from Stanford Law School, he has plenty to offer Munger.

Precisely the breadth and wide-ranging austerity of his experience make him such a prize for Munger, and having argued 10 cases before the Supreme Court of the United States certainly caries its clout as well.
