High School Spanish Teacher Accused of Seducing Student at School — Booze, Sexts, and More

The Michigan teacher charged with five counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct last week, for her relationship with a 15-year-old boy, faces a new round of charges. Kathryn Ronk, 28, who taught Spanish at Bishop Foley Catholic High School, turned herself in after being charged for having sex with her student on school grounds. The further charges claim that Ronk, “enticed the victim to exchange sexually explicit images, and provided the victim with alcohol,” as Macomb Prosecutor Eric Smith said in a press release, and as reported by Macomb Daily.

What this amounts to is three additional counts of first-degree sexual conduct, a count of possession of sexually abusive material featuring a child, and one count of furnishing alcohol to a minor. The first-degree criminal sexual conduct charge itself could wind her up in prison for life.

Nevertheless, she was released after posting 10 percent of her $50,000 bail, wearing a GPS tether, before the new charges were levied against her.

“The age difference, the aggressiveness, the teacher-student relationship, this case shocks us on a number of levels,” said Smith.

The public, meanwhile, has been reacting to her released Facebook pictures, which seems to confirm a partying lifestyle, such as pictures of her touting a beer in her hand.

Whatever the case, the school quickly dropped Ronk, a married woman, from their staff, after the charges were brought against her. The charges allege that she met the student in question during the December of 2013 and began the sexual relationship in January.
