Four-Year-Old Helps Foil Home Invasion Plan of Babysitter

Abby Dean is not your typical crime solver. She is a four-year-old girl who was able to foil a home invasion plan concocted by her own babysitter, according to Fox6Now.com.

The incident took place on June 18 at Dean’s home in Ferndale, Washington. The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office enlisted the help of the girl to solve the case.

Abby told Fox6Now.com that “They told us to get out of the house ’cause they wanted to steal stuff.”

Police claim that the 17-year-old babysitter put the plan together with her 16-year-old boyfriend and another male suspect.

“That was really her being bad. She’s not a good babysitter,” Abby said in the interview with Fox6.

According to police, the babysitter said two armed black men broke into the home. The little girl said her kitty bank, iPod, Wii and Xbox were all stolen from the home. The babysitter even said that one of the suspects looked like a neighbor. That neighbor, Cody Oaks, was taken into custody and questioned for hours until Abby told police something important.

“It wasn’t the right skin color,” Abby said. She informed the officers that the intruders were white and not black. This is when the babysitter confessed to the crime.

“Literally in 30 seconds she changed everything that had been going on for five, six hours,” Jennifer Dean, Abby’s mother, said in the interview with Fox6.

All three involved in the crime have been arrested and face charges of perjury, burglary and robbery.
