Litigator Karl Dial Leaves Norton Rose to Join DLA Piper in Dallas

DLA Piper announced that litigator Karl Dial will join the firm as a partner in the Dallas office. Dial, who joins DLA Piper from Norton Rose Fulbright, is licensed to practice in New York and Texas and is board certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He has 30 years of litigation experience throughout the US and has tried more than 40 complex civil cases.

“The depth of Karl’s legal experience and his skills as a trial lawyer make him a great addition to our litigation team in the Southwest, nationally and globally,” said James Nelson, chair of DLA Piper’s Texas Litigation practice.

He further added, “Clients trust Karl’s counsel, particularly in such areas as professional and director and officer liability, class action securities litigation and corporate governance issues. Karl is not only an outstanding trial lawyer, but also understands the importance of working with clients on compliance and the avoidance of risk so they don’t need to step foot in a courtroom.”

Dial is a trial lawyer who handles complex business and commercial litigation. He represents directors and officers in securities class actions, derivative cases and proxy solicitation claims. A CPA, he also has significant experience representing accounting, consulting and law firms in defense of professional negligence, malpractice and breach of duty litigation. He has tried trade secrets and intellectual property cases as well, and handles arbitrations in addition to general commercial litigation work.

Dial earned his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law, where he was a member of the Texas Law Review and Order of the Coif. As an undergraduate, he was valedictorian of the School of Business at the University of Texas.
