Man Charged with Spitting Blood Into Officer’s Mouth During Arrest

A man from Indiana is facing multiple charges after reportedly spitting blood in a police officer’s mouth. He also told the officer that he has Hepatitis C, according to The Huffington Post.

Anthony J. Hopkins was being arrested on April 12 for fighting and fleeing from officers when the incident occurred.

Hopkins was found hiding in a basement crawl space by officers, who used a K-9 officer to flush him out of his hiding spot. The dog bit Hopkins multiple times.

When he exited the crawl space, Hopkins spit blood onto the face and into the mouth of a police officer and said, “F-ck you, I hope you die.”

The officer who was spit on attempted to remove Hopkins from the basement, but they got into a struggle and fell down the steps. Other officers arrived and helped remove Hopkins from the house.

“You know I have Hep C,” Hopkins allegedly said when he spat blood on a patrol car.

“I hope you get Hep C and give it to your wife and kids,” Hopkins reportedly said. “Once I get out of here I’m going to kill you and your family…”

Hopkins had a blood alcohol content of 0.16, which is twice the legal limit to drive, but it is unknown if he actually has Hepatitis C.

Hopkins was charged with battery by bodily waste and intimidation, both felonies. He was charged with two misdemeanors: resisting law enforcement and disorderly conduct.

Hopkins seems to be a career criminal having convictions dating back to 2007 for battery, burglary, driving while intoxicated and receiving stolen property.
