Model Emma Appleton has made claims that photographer Terry Richardson offered her a photo shoot in exchange for sex. Appleton posted a screenshot of her phone to Twitter and Instagram on Sunday that showed a private message on Facebook from who she claims is Richardson, according to the New York Daily News.
“If I can f–k you I will book you in (New York) for a shoot for Vogue,” the message read. Appleton published the photo using the caption “Um what?”
In response to backlash about her post, Appleton wrote, “This industry is f–ked up. I’ve been modelling for 5 years and I’ve never had this before, it doesn’t make it okay.”
Not long after, Appleton seemed to be worried about what she posted, tweeting, “Beginning to wish I hadn’t posted that. It doesn’t matter who you are or what the industry is, just be a decent human being… The fact people think this is acceptable blows my f–king mind.”
Not long after that, Appleton took down her Twitter page and removed the post from her account on Instagram.
Candice Marks, a rep for Richardson, told BuzzFeed, “This is obviously a fake. Terry did not send this text.”
Vogue made a statement saying it is not planning to use Richardson in the future.
“The last assignment Terry Richardson had for US Vogue appeared in the July 2010 issue and we have no plans to work with him in the future,” the statement read.
This is nothing new for Richardson, who was accused in 2010 by model Jamie Peck of stripping naked and asking her to perform a sex act.
Former models Charlotte Waters, Rie Rasmussen and Jenna Sauers have also spoken against Richardson. He still seems to be in high-demand. He has been used by Rihanna and Miley Cyrus.
Richardson wrote a letter to the Huffington Post in March that addressed the rumors.
“I collaborated with consenting adult women who were fully aware of the nature of the work, and as is typical with any project, everyone signed releases,” Richardson wrote in the letter. “I have never used an offer of work or a threat of rebuke to coerce someone into something that they did not want to do.”
