Woman Blogs About First Year of Marriage; Sitcom Deal in the Works

A woman, only identified as ‘Alice,’ decided to blog about her first year of marriage so the whole world could follow her life. Little did she realize that the blog would become so popular.

Alice was born in St. Louis, lives in Boston, and works as a writer. She took notes during her first year of marriage and then turned them into daily blog posts about poop, pranks, and periods.

Her blog, 1styearofmarriage, is currently being sought after by a Beverly Hills production company that wants to turn it into a sitcom.

Alice met ‘Joe’ while working in Los Angeles as a screenwriter. Joe was working as a film producer at the time. He now runs a computer-marketing agency.

“I’ve been jotting things down for the past year and change,” she told the Daily RFT. “I started with things that my husband and I say to one another, so I really started it for fun.”

The blog was launched in March, but Alice made each post correspond with the date that the topic happened. The blog is weird, crass and very raw.

“For the most part, yeah, it’s real. There are parts that are exaggerated,” she said. Alice said that the majority of the exaggerations happen in the posts that describe her period weeks.

“I think it’s just kind of a more realistic look at what marriage is like,” Joe said.

A grouping of posts titled “This Week = Grounds for Divorce.” The posts talk about how Joe wound up getting Alice fired from her job.

Joe wrote: “The toilet, where you go to poop or pee, if you poo, wipe your butt,” in a manuscript Alice was writing for her job. Post number 355 begins with, “Today I was fired.”

“That’s little bit of an embellishment, in that she didn’t get fired from her job,” Joe says.

“But,” Alice said, “I was basically forced to quit.”

Joe continued with, “It was definitely serious. I thought she would see that and take it out. It was dumb to do that. And I’m not just saying that because I got yelled at about it.”

Alice said the blog has become incredibly popular since its launch.

“I just think it’s a realistic picture of what marriage is actually like for people,” she says. “But at the end of the day, it’s worth it.”

Alice claims that the blog has received a quarter of a million visitors since its launch.
