Ad Agency Posts Fake Job Listing to Remind Everyone to put Things into Perspective

An advertising agency in Boston posted a fake job listing online and in the newspaper, requiring more than 135 hours per week, constant mobility, keen coordination and adept communication. No breaks, no holidays off and no pay. According to Ad Week, Mullen Advertising Agency posted the fake “Director of Operations” job, they received 2.7 million impressions from the ad, but only 24 people responded to the ad. Each of the 24 people sat down for an online interview for the job. Every applicant was shocked to hear what was expected of them for the position. The list of job duties went on to include: no sitting, no vacations, no guaranteed sleep, working in a chaotic environment for 365 days a year.

One of the applicants went as far as to ask “is that even legal?” and another commented “Nobody is going to do that for free,” but according to the interviewer, billions of people already do this job, every single day. As the applicants were told who holds the title of the “Worlds Toughest Job,” some were reminded of what the holder of the title meant to them. Some were even brought to tears. Hopefully a little stunt like this will make Mother’s Day more special- and the following 364 days after it a little more appreciative for all those who take on these unbelievably massive and unpaid tasks – because of love.
