The Ultimate Warrior Dies Days After Induction into WWE Hall of Fame

Days after his induction into the World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Fame, the Ultimate Warrior died at the age of 54. He was one of the wrestling world’s most beloved wrestlers. His death was announced by the WWE on Tuesday night via a statement.

The Ultimate Warrior was born as James Brian Hellwig, according to Fox News.

“WWE is shocked and greatly saddened to learn of the passing of one of the most iconic WWE Superstars ever,” the statement read. “Warrior began his WWE career in 1987 and quickly went on to become one of the biggest stars in WWE history. Warrior became WWE Champion at WrestleMania VI, defeating Hulk Hogan in an epic encounter. We are grateful that just days ago, Warrior had the opportunity to take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame and was also able to appear at WrestleMania 30 and Monday Night Raw to address his legions of fans.”

“WWE sends its sincere condolences to Warrior’s family, friends and fans. Warrior was 54 and is survived by his wife Dana and his two daughters.”

According to reports form TMZ, The Ultimate Warrior collapsed outside of his hotel in Arizona and was rushed to the hospital. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

No cause of death has been released. The Ultimate Warrior appeared on WWE’s “Monday Night Raw” just 24 hours prior to his death and days after his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame.

“Saddened to announce the passing of the Ultimate Warrior. Icon and friend. My sympathy to his wife Dana and his daughters,” Triple H tweeted.



“RIP WARRIOR. only love. HH,” tweeted Hulk Hogan, the biggest rival of the Ultimate Warrior.

The Ultimate Warrior retired in 1998 following a brief stint with World Championship Wrestling. He returned for one final match in 2008. He is survived by wife Dana and two daughters.
