Legal Industry Adds 700 Jobs in March

The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics released seasonally adjusted preliminary data on Friday that says the legal industry added 700 jobs in the month of March, according to The Am Law Daily.

The report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics also released revised jobs data for the month of February. The revised jobs data shows that the legal industry remained flat when it comes to hiring in February. In January, the legal industry added 1,600 jobs, bringing the 2014 total to 2,300 jobs.

The legal industry has 1.137 million people employed in it this year, which is 4,000 more than the same time in 2013.

In March, the entire economy gained 192,000 jobs, but the unemployment rate stayed the same at 6.7 percent.

In making her first major speech since taking over as Fed Chair, Janet Yellen said, “I think this extraordinary commitment is still needed and will be for some time, and I believe that view is widely held by my fellow policymakers at the Fed. The past six years have been difficult for many Americans, but the hardships faced by some have shattered lives and families. Too many people know firsthand how devastating it is to lose a job at which you had succeeded and be unable to find another; to run through your savings and even lose your home.”
